“Prof Mac’s Motivational Moments”

Motivation for what matters, matters!

Motivation is important, but not the whole picture.

Take an idiot and motivate them, and you have a motivated idiot. You can imagine the havoc such a person could wreak. Imagination not required; you have seen it, repeatedly!

Take a wise person and ask them to pair away their desires and focus only on what really matters to them, and you know you have someone who will achieve results.

Being motivated on its own is useless; motivation needs to be focused to be effective. If we are motivated towards a large number of outcomes; if our minds are cluttered by multiple goals, some of which are inevitably competing, we are much less likely to achieve any of them.

If that is you, it is time to clear out to your motivation kitchen: too many cooks spoil the broth; too many motivations confuse the cook.

Write down all the things you want to achieve. Then rank them in order of importance to you.

Those at the top of the list are the ones you really want. Those at the bottom are “nice to haves”.

Focus on the top of your list. Your focus will dramatically increase your chances of success.

Motivation for what matters to you, only matters if your results matter to you!

Motivation for what matters, matters!
